Following are exerpts from 2011
2011 was a great year. The launch of a new project to train teachers who work in creches came to be. This pilot program has been well attended, and in fact we have a waiting list in two provinces for people who want to take this certified course!

We have three partially sponsored college students this year. They are diligently seeking their future in a school system that has very few seats available for any achievers. If you would like to help these three students financially, please check the "Help AWA" button on the right to see how to make donations.

AWA helped launch a micro enterprise in March in a rural tribal village.

New things, new people, but never forget the old. We are continuing on the projects that we have established in the past, and our partners continue to grow toward more productivity and success in their work as a result.

A continuation of the YES project will commence in June. The business training courses are ongoing. Tower gardens are always popular and will continue this year. AWA has funded food supplies for creches around South Africa as well as developing curriculum and donating materials for teachers to work with.

Creche Enhancement Project passes pilot with great success and second implementation is now scheduled.

AWA is scheduled to receive donations to distribute to schools and creches. This is a huge effort that will take many hands. Thanks Mark for letting us drop stuff at you place for a while!

AWA has been working on establishing a library for a few years, a successful book drive of over 1200 books will enable this very soon!

New student awards program is being finalized in the Northwest and soon new teaching opportunities will arise from that.

AWA will be working with a Johannesburg partner to establish the framework for a very large micro loan and business entrepreneur project. It's in the works folks.

Look for more galleries coming soon. This is only the beginning!

We are grateful that every day new volunteers are joining our ranks in South Africa. We have a need for a volunteer now who can help us manage our volunteer effort! Exciting stuff!

Please check here for more on the 2011 project calendar. More is coming soon.
